Innovative Wireless Technologies (IWT) and Applied Perception Inc. (API) are in a joint effort to integrate secure and covert ultra wideband wireless communications platform with unmanned vehicles for a concept demonstration of a future Forward Deployable Medical Treatment Facility (FDDMTF). This project involves integrating robotic vehicles with teleoperation control capabilities developed by Applied Perception with a UWB wireless communication module and software stack developed by IWT that supports ad-hoc, mesh networking with indoor and outdoor geolocation capability.

The vision for FDDMTF is to provide a joint US Army/US Air Force lightweight, wireless, forward surgical and hospitalization capability that can be deployed in support of the Army Transformation Interim Brigade Combat Teams, Army or Air Force exercise Concept Evaluation Programs (CEP) trials, or Real world contingencies such as peace keeping, humanitarian and counter terrorism missions, response to natural disasters, and homeland defense.

Applied Perception’s role includes adding functionality to allow for seamless communication between existing JAUS-compliant systems using IWT’s communication module. In addition to communications over 2.4 GHz, IWT’s communication modules has the capability of communicating over 900 MHz and 3.1-4.9 GHz (UWB).
